My uncle worked quite extensively with asbestos for many years and now all that’s come home to roost.
Although many his age would be quite lively in fact his life is so bad that all those that love him would, if they were honest, would prefer that it was over. Of course the problem with the likes of malignant Mesothelioma isn’t so much that you have a horrible disease but that you can live for quite a long time with it, gradually going downhill as time goes on.
Of course, the biggest problem is that asbestos was pretty much everywhere 30 or 40 years ago. Even everyday items like an ironing board had it and I’m sure that there are a whole bunch of things around houses even now that have it.

While we were waiting for James’ eye drops to kick in the other day we had a wander through the minefield of the chemists.
From a male point of view it seems like the kind of part of the store where you’d want to do a bit of browsing before you decided on a purchase but it’s the one part of the store where that’s just about impossible to do. If you pause for more than a few seconds you find yourself accosted by one of the assistants who seem set on making all your choices for you, so long as they’re from the cosmetic range which they’re looking after that day.
So the very best eye wrinkle cream will be YSL, Revlon, or whatever depending on what counter they are from. Naturally, it’ll not be one of the cheaper ranges! This despite the fact that there is one of the wrinkle creams which doesn’t just cover up things but which actually reduces the wrinkles directly (can’t remember the name of it right now though).
It’s a seriously annoying part of the store.

The winter is the time to get your house in order for the following summer but hardly anyone gets around to doing that.
We’re “fortunate” in being forced into a bunch of upgrades ourselves at the moment. Fortunate in that the prices are a lot lower than they are when people are normally looking for stuff, not so fortunate in that the upgrade is being forced upon us.
Little things need doing too like updating thehumidifier filters (which many people simply forget about and then wonder why they’re not working anymore). Stocking up on light bulbs is worthwhile as the prices can sometimes go up over the winter as you’d expect.
