One of the problems with France is that it has both the worst and the best bits of French life all wrapped up together.
However, if you want to sample France with just the best bits, the french quarter hotels in New Orleans offer an interesting option. There you’ll find a cute (almost disneyland) version of French culture but without all the annoying adminstrative hassles that you run across all too often in France itself. And, of course, they all speak English, just as they do in France (although they won’t speak it to you there!).

For one reason or another we’ve been sitting with a hole in the kitchen ceiling for months now. It’s not anyone’s fault really, just that a few delays here and there have added up to quite a number of months now.
But, at last we’re starting to look at Kohler faucets and the like with a view to actually getting the kitchen redone before Christmas. Fortunately (well, in some ways), we’re also needing to get the bathroom done which at least cuts down on the time trailing round plumbing fittings in shops though it’s going to be into next year before work starts on the bathroom.

I’m not really into dancing but live in a household where missing Strictly Come Dancing is a major crime. Even though we could time-shift it, that’s not seen as an acceptable option.
Anyway, net effect of that is that I end up not so much watching it as sitting in the room when it’s on. So, I look at different things and wonder how the few bits of cloth (“dress” hardly seems the word sometimes) stay up and observe that it’s probably the only place where tuxedo shirt seems dressing down. And why on earth they bothered getting Ronnie Corbet last week.
Marginally more interesting sometimes is wondering where on earth the judges get their marks from when some really naff dancers get 5s but I guess it’s to do with keeping up viewer interest over the course of the series.
