Still a good time to buy gold?

Saturday, January 15th, 2011

With the global economy still in disarray it still remains a sensible choice to buy gold even though the price is not at the bargain basement level that it was at a few years ago.

But how do you do it? The typical gold bar that you’ll have seen in movies is now up to a really serious amount of cash. Even a one ounce gold coin costs getting on for £1000 these days.

Worth noting is that buying in bulk is going to get you a lower price premium over the normal spot rate for gold. Thus a gold bar will be much closer to the quoted price per ounce than the equivalent amount of small gold coins would.

Why so many sales jobs?

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

I was skimming through the job vacancies the other day and it’s quite noticeable that there are an awful lot of sales jobs around at the moment.

Seems a bit odd to me at this point in the teetering through the economic mess although to be fair most of the jobs on offer were business to business ones rather than retail and, on the whole, specialised sales jobs requiring experience and qualifications.

Are best buys any good?

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

With prices dropping in many areas these days it might seem like there’s no point in bothering to look for a Best Buy.

That’s sort-of true but even when prices are reasonably low there’s not much point in throwing your money away. Those best buys are called that for a reason: they offer you the best combination of features and price. That doesn’t always mean that they’re the lowest price you can get, but sometimes it’s worth paying that little bit more to get a whole lot more features.
