Is depression becoming more common?

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

In bad economic times like we’re in at the moment it seems pretty much a sure bet that depression is on the rise and so people will be increasingly looking for cures for it. Unfortunately there’s no easy cure.

Though you can find things like natural depression treatments on the shelves these days there’s two problems with them. First “natural” doesn’t mean either effective or better than a non-natural treatment. Secondly, treatment by way of pills doesn’t tackle the underlying cause of the depression and merely alleviates the symptoms.

Naturally the way out of the depression is through tackling the underlying reason or reasons for it although doing that may be far from easy.

Why go for acne cream when you can attack the underlying problem?

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

The really puzzling thing about acne treatments is that pretty much all of them are basically just creams to cover up and, hopefully, get rid of the spots in due course. Acne is actually down to the hormones pulsing through teenagers: it’s far more than just the visible spots.

Thus something like acnepril seems long overdue.

Whether it works for you is something that you’ll only find out by trying it out as it comes under the heading of cosmetic treatments rather than medical ones so hasn’t been fully tested (though the ingredients seem fine).

Searching for local services on the Internet

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

When Internet marketing kicked off some years ago there was very little consideration of marketing local services via the medium and for good reason: there was no easy way to go about it.

Nowadays it’s quite different of course with untold numbers of small enterprises considering that it’s essential to be online. This change came about through the wonders of geotargeting which basically lets search engines present you results that are more local to you than they would ordinarily be.

To do this they need to come at the problem from two directions. First off, there’s you: your IP address (assigned by your Internet provider) gives them your broad location. Secondly, there’s information from the web pages themselves thus you see for example, charlotte dentist being mentioned prominently on the relevant website. That second one isn’t so obvious though as many websites don’t bother to quote a physical address, relying instead on contact pages which also omit this information in many cases and thereby throw away untold numbers of customers.

Of course, there’s the perennial problem in that nobody really knows what search terms people out there will use to find a given business.
